Tomb robbers stole from dead pharaohs to get easy wealth. These people were shunned because they ruined the afterlife of people. They were punished harshly. They were normally poor people who had no jobs or low paying jobs

Chapter 11
Gebu had been doing an odd thing, seeing light through his door (maybe a torch)? Ranofer walked towards the torches expecting to be caught by kheft or even Gebu, but he had not been. However Gebu did not notice the seal or the goblet, he was far too drunk. Most importantly, Ranofer is figuring out that Gebu stole the precious golden goblet from the Precious Habitation of the king. Gebu is an evil man. Ranofer ponders about being the man thanked and praised, and not being beaten if he just tells what his brother is doing. "But his questions had no answers, the problem had not a solution."-Ranofer One day Gebu did not come home, and this raises suspicions that Gebu may not come back. But why would he not come back to a life of material wealth. Ranofer asked Gebu if he had forgotten the coppers, and he did. How could Gebu have forgotten about his coppers, his money? Ranofer, in the middle of the night with Zau I help, will steal the goblet and run.

Chapter 12
Ranofer did not tell anyone including Heqet about the truth about Gebu or the goblet. He can not give too many answers or he will endanger his friends. Then Heqet overhears Gebu informing Wenamon to meet him in the day beside the crooked tree. Ranofer makes a lie tells his friends that Gebu is going to Abydos. However, Gebu and Wenoman are actually going to enter the Valley of the Tombs, instead of going to the festival. But, knowing curious Ranofer, he will try to follow them.

Gebu and Ranofer want to rob the tomb. This made me think some people dont rob tombs because they dont need to. People rob others to get their riches. This factor relates to social class because some people dont need to rob others because they are richer

Ranofer, Hequet, and Ancient go and spy on Gebu, and Wenamon. When Ranofer is at home he goes to Gebu's room and finds the golden goblet.
He realizes the only place where you can find perfect gold like this it, is from a tomb. Ranofer figures out that this is why Gebu gets home really late because he robs during the night, so nobody can see him. He wonders how he does it, because there are guards at night. Then Ranofer sees something on the ground realizes that it's clay and marked with Gebu's ring. Ranofer realizes Gebu would know that Ranofer was in his room because the ring is broken.

Ranofer studies the art of stone cutting, and he does the dangerous job of filling holes with sand so Zahotep can drill holes in an alabaster slab. He also finds out that a simple slab of stone will be used as a lid for a tomb and sands granite. One night Gebu sneaks out of the house and Ranofer wonders why he would sneak out of the house at night when the kefts could be wandering. But then Gebu sneaking out becomes common and he learns to stop dwelling on that.

Cats where domesticated in Egypt. 1,000 or so years later after they stop domesticated cats they then worshiped them as a god and made statues and jewelry formed around cats. It was praised for controlling vermin and its ability to kill snakes such as cobras.

In chapter 11, Ranofer was thinking about how to get Gebu caught and stated that since he was of a lower social class, the officials wouldn't believe him and he would be put to death. However, if some one of a higher social class like Zau told the officials for him, Gebu would be caught with Ranofer and Zau safe.

Since Queen Tiy was really incorporated in this chapter, I decided to do a little research on her and her family. Queen Tiy was King Tut's grandmother and may be the elderly lady in Tut's tomb by theory. Her parents whose tomb was robbed in the book, was Yuya (father) and Min (mother). She was married into the royal family by Amenhotep III.
